To Pack or Not to Pack?

Top 5 Things Your Camper Will Want That Aren’t on the Packing List

Packing for camp can feel overwhelming. Even with a solid packing list in hand, it’s easy to second-guess what your camper will actually need once they're here. While we have a pretty comprehensive packing list to guide you, we also know there are a few items that aren’t exactly “essential” but can make a big difference in day-to-day camp life. Over the years, I’ve noticed a handful of things that experienced campers bring summer after summer to make their stay a little more comfortable and convenient. To make your packing process even easier, I’ve put together a quick list of the top five non-essential (but definitely useful!) items. You’ll also find our official packing list attached at the end!

  1. Personal Fan

Last summer, personal fans quickly became the unexpected MVP of Ballibay. Fans weren't just the items everyone wished they'd packed, but they also became the most sent item in care packages!

2. Crocs

If personal fans were the item of the summer, Crocs easily took the title for footwear of the summer. While they might not be the trendiest choice outside of camp life, at Ballibay, they’re a camper’s best friend—especially on wet weather days.

3. Camp Ballibay T-Shirt

This year, the Camp Ballibay t-shirts are not available for purchase through UltraCamp. Instead, you can find them on our online store! You can either have the shirt shipped to your home before leaving for camp or, if you prefer, you can place an order later and have it sent directly to camp. If you choose the latter option, I recommend you place your order at least one week before your camper arrives! Use this limited-time promo code!: ballibayshirt25

4. Bedside Storage

Plastic drawer sets aren’t essential, but I’ve found that a lot of campers really like having them. They make a great little bedside table and are super handy for storing smaller things like socks, notebooks, or a flashlight. Every cabin has shelves, but it’s nice to have that extra bit of space to keep things organized.

5. Twinkle Lights

Rounding out at #5 are twinkling lights, or fairy lights! They’re a great way to add a little extra charm to your camper’s space in the cabin. These lights make the room feel cozier and more inviting, especially in the evening.

Packing can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! If your camper forgets something or realizes they need something once they’re here, it’s no problem — we receive packages every day. There’s plenty of time to settle in and get comfortable, and we’re always here to help if anything comes up.

Also, don’t forget to check out our Camp Ballibay online store for all your merchandise needs! As a bonus, I’m offering a limited-time promo code (ballibayshirt25) for your camper's Ballibay t-shirt, available now through June 15th. We can’t wait to see you this summer!
